Class Style & Description

Most classes are 75 or 90 minutes. Beginners 1 hour. Classes vary - sometimes holding poses and other times flowing, with focus on technique, strength, flexibility and balance of the whole being. Each class is completed with Pranayama/Nidra/Meditation, allowing deep relaxation and peace. Yoga develops a healthy fit body, a calm mind and joy in each day.
Yoga Exercises (Asanas)

Asanas develop flexibility and strength, tone the organs, cleanse and purify the physical system. They strengthen the nervous system, regulate the endocrine gland system, encourage and develop body awareness. The poses release rigid habits and tension, relieving body armouring and stress. Health, vitality and well being of the person is greatly enhanced.
Sun Salutation Sequences are flowing sequences of poses.

Breathing Exercises (Pranayama)

We incorporate pranayama into the classes to encourage increased oxygen flow, removing dullness, stress and emotional blocks. This cleanses and balances the energy field, invigorating the body and relaxing the mind.
Relaxation (Nidra/Meditation)

Nidra means 'sleep', a very deep level of rest. (It is said that 15 minutes of Nidra is equivalent to 1hr sleep). Meditation is either guided, lying down, or sitting up.
Both can involve visualisations; awareness of breath; energy centres (chakras); stillness. Chanting of AUM or other mantras (sound vibrations) are an exhilarating addition to our yoga practice.
Deep relaxation is achieved, and we become more aware of our inner experience as centered and connected. Peace is restored.

Yoga

Yoga means "Union", and the ultimate goal of yoga is UNION. Union of the Whole Self (body, mind and spirit). By practicing Yoga we bring ourselves into balance, allowing ourselves to open up to our own perfect unfolding.
